Maarten Stenvers
Change Agent and Trainer
BACKGROUND
Top sports performance and hockey team coach, training and mentoring coaches, medical information consultant, team development and leadership trainer in business and keynote speaker.

We are for real
During the winter break of a hockey season, I got a 'feeling'. I was living my dream at that moment. Head coach in the big league with the Olympics as my ambition. My feeling said... "I want to work with more people and teams than putting all my time and energy into 1 hockey team". Despite 'not understanding' my feelings at first, I listened by jumping into the deep end and making the switch to business.
We are of the wall
Never worked in paid employment before. By the time we could celebrate my partner's first birthday together, she had already given birth to our son. People often think I communicate brightly and clearly, but at the same time, besides my work, I also guide spiritual ceremonies and work with energetic medicine. Some of my tattoos I designed myself. I walk barefoot in a forest.
We innovate for tomorrow
I often say to a group, "I'm here to learn something from you". Always focused on growth, especially in the dynamics of interaction. I use my own continuous development in a supportive way and as an example. How do we react/feel now and from that reflection, what is our intention towards the future? My intention with this is to connect with the participants, invite them to also actively explore themselves and it places the responsibility for their growth on themselves. Awareness is central.
We float like a butterfly and sting like a bee
I like to work with playful methods to translate observation and reflection into daily work. What patterns do we recognise? What do we want to do with them? The other day I made a remark about a joke I made. In reflection, I said that this comment was 'non-judgemental'. But in the car back I felt that wasn't true. The following session I returned to that. Stinging also goes 2 ways 😉
We score without compromises
If I am asked to supervise a process where in my view the time is too short to achieve the goal, I say no. In addition, I always come back to the agreements made by an individual or team a subsequent session to reflect on how things are going now. That way, participants can also score themselves...without compromise 😉
