Vitality at the Tax Office
Working together on sustainable employability
Almost 27,000 people work at the Tax and Customs Administration. These staff are responsible for performing core tasks such as collecting taxes, checking compliance with tax laws, and detecting fraud. As such, the Tax and Customs Administration fulfils an essential role in the financial health of the Netherlands.
With an eye on the sustainable match between people and work, and the emphasis on lifelong learning, Mind Work Productions has developed a learning offer in the field of vitality in co-creation with the Tax Administration. The Tax Authority attaches great importance to a working environment where employees feel vital and can develop continuously. Vitality contributes to enjoyment of life, job satisfaction and how well you are able to do your job.
The vitality modules on offer are designed to equip and support managers to increase sustainable employability and reduce absenteeism by focusing on what they can do. The 'move to the front' is central, meaning a joint effort to vitalise themselves and each other, and prevent absenteeism. The learning offer focuses on increasing energy sources with the ultimate goal of putting employees in control of their own employability.

The manager's role is to support this and together seek what the employee needs for this. This offer also pays attention to possible support for employees who are at risk of dropping out or absenteeism.
The effect of the vitality programme at the Tax Administration is that managers are better equipped to promote sustainable employability within their teams and proactively tackle absenteeism. By focusing on preventive measures and looking for solutions together, a work culture is created in which vitality and job satisfaction are central. As a result, employees feel supported in their development and experience an improved balance between work and well-being.
The programme started with living through, understanding and reinforcing the core values. Employees needed to know not only what the core values are, but also how to apply them in their daily work and develop in them.
